Examination Of Draft Local Plan Complete

    Forum representatives presented our case during the second stage of the public examination of the Council’s Draft Local Plan and were complimented by the Examiner.

    Withdrawal of funding for Neighbourhood Plans

      A petition being circulated by 38 Degrees which calls on the government not to withdraw the funding which enables communities like ours to prepare a Neighbourhood Plan. For the past 10 years, the government provided funding through Locality to enable Town and Parish Councils and Neighbourhood Forums develop Neighbourhood Plans but they now plan to withdraw the funding.

      Examination Of Draft Local Plan

        Details of the process and timetable for the examination of the Council’s draft Local Plan have been made available. The first public hearing is on 8 July 2025.

          Council To Vote Again On Local Plan

            Following the release of the new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) in December 2024, South Tyneside Council will vote again on the Local Plan at meeting on Thursday 27 February.

            Council Local Plan Rejected By Councillors, More Green Belt At Risk ?

              South Tyneside Council met on Thursday 5 September and councillors voted 26 to 23 with one abstention to reject the latest version of their Local plan. This means that it will not proceed to the Secretary of State for examination and adoption.
              With the proposed changes to the National Planning Policy Framework is this Good news or BAD ??
