Members of the Forum Executive and a senior representative of East Boldon Developments met on 21 September 2023 to discuss the company’s plan for the future use of their Station Approach premises, formerly occupied by Doves and Watson Tool Hire, and the role of the Neighbourhood Forum.
The company’s preferred use for the site is for employment, in particular for small businesses which will provide useful services to the local community. Rumours have recently proliferated on social media and the company is keen to dispel any fears that the site may be used for licensed premises.
The company is aware of past problems caused by parking and large delivery vehicles but points out that, since the site benefits from quite a large open space to the rear, parking relating to businesses would not have a negative impact on Station Approach.
The Forum confirmed that, in the first instance, the Neighbourhood Plan envisaged that the Estate and site in question should be used for employment purposes.
